Takata Air Bag Recall - Impacts ~34 million Automobiles in the U.S.

In October 2015, the recall on Takata air bags was expanded across several brand vehicles.  The issue involves defective inflator and propellant devices that may deploy improperly in the event of a crash, shooting metal fragments into vehicle occupants.  For a list of affected vehicles, go to:

A lawsuit filed in the US District Court in Lafayette, Louisiana, alleges that the death of a young woman in April of 2015 occurred when her 2005 Honda Civic’s driver-side airbag “violently exploded and sent metal shards, shrapnel and/or other foreign material into the passenger compartment.”  If her death is found to have been caused by the airbag, it would become the 7th attributed to a failed Takata airbag.  The other six fatalities all occurred in Honda vehicles.
